Cis De Gendt (b. 1999, Belgium) makes music, performs, and organizes. His interest lies in creating situations—informed by how sound and music is embedded in our everyday auditory experience—that foreground the participatory aspect of listening, in particular by working with what it means to engage with the recording or performance format as presentation contexts with their (own) particular listenings, mechanics and codifications.

Cis has collaborated with Lawrence McGuire, Angelina Nonaj, Qihang Li, Andrejs Poikāns, Germaine Sijstermans, Jacob Eckhardt, and Roc Montoriol. 

Cis furthermore runs default den haag: a non-profit curatorial initiative focused on the presentation of international contemporary experimental music and sound art performances in The Hague, curating and organizing their nomadic sound series since 2022, next to occasionally hosting accompanying talks and lectures.
